New Zealand Orienteering Championships

26 – 29 March 2027 (Easter)

Counties Manukau + Waikato

Join us for a challenging set of orienteering events in a variety of terrain for the New Zealand Orienteering Championships 2027 hosted by Counties Manukau Orienteering Club (CMOC) and Orienteering Waikato Club.

The New Zealand Orienteering Championships, commonly known as the Nationals, attracts orienteers from across the country to compete for national titles across a wide range of age categories. It is a high-quality event, with excellent maps and courses designed to challenge everyone, from beginners through to highly competitive elite athletes. Although there is Champs in the title, like all orienteering events we have easy grades and courses that will suit absolute beginners and families too. We encourage all to enter.

Check on the updates page for announcements and the latest news. And please like and follow the official NZ Orienteering Championships facebook.

Event locations

  • All events will be held in the Counties Manukau & Waikato areas
  • Waikato is a region in the upper north Island of New Zealand, and home to the Waikato River with Hamilton as the commercial centre.

Accommodation

Our accommodation recommendation is to stay in the Waikato area

There is no pre-organised accommodation for competitors. Competitors travelling from outside the Waikato region will find a wide range of accommodation in Hamilton and surrounds, including hotels, motels, serviced apartments, AirBnBs, holiday parks, and campgrounds. Hamilton is expected to be the primary accommodation hub for the NZ Orienteering Champs 2027.

Limited accommodation is also available in Port Waikato, including motel units, cabins, camping and campervan sites at the Port Waikato Holiday Park, along with privately operated holiday homes.

Competitors are encouraged to book early, particularly for family-sized accommodation and holiday park sites during the Easter holiday period.
