Join us for a challenging set of orienteering events with a variety of  terrain on newly mapped areas for the New Zealand Orienteering Championships 2025, hosted by Peninsula and Plains Orienteers (PAPO).

The New Zealand Orienteering Champs, also known as the Nationals, is the top orienteering event in NZ. Competitors of all ages go for national titles in various categories. It’s a high-quality event with great maps and courses suited for everyone from beginners to the competitive. Three new areas have been mapped for Nationals 2025, only the relay and knockout sprint are on existing maps.

Getting there

  • The sprint event is centrally based in the city centre of Christchurch.
  • The Long, Middle and Relay will be held from Saturday-Monday on terrain to the north of Christchurch. These locations are within 90 mins drive of Christchurch airport and will be accessed from SH1.

Accommodation

Those looking for accommodation recommendations should either stay in Christchurch and drive to the events each day or book something closer in the Amberly area. There are a variety of accommodation options in Christchurch from camping to high-end hotels/motels. Easter will be a busy period – so book early.
